Our impact, in their words

Growing up in Oaks Band and Choir, I was truly shaped into the person I am today. It ignited a passion and love for music within me, whether it was playing the saxophone in Mrs. Ballard’s band or being a soprano in Mrs. Brenda’s choir. While learning the music and honing my skills weekly wasn’t always enjoyable, I now realize that it played a crucial role in shaping my musical journey. As a freshman, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in choir or band beyond high school. I began praying and asking questions about becoming a band teacher or choir director. After much contemplation, I decided to pursue a career as an Elementary Music teacher. Now, I’m studying Music Education at Malone, hoping to become a fraction of the impact my music teachers had on me. I’ll always cherish the memories of our long practice sessions and the valuable lessons I learned.
